Signing in with Google, GitHub or Microsoft

Where offered, the sign-in and sign-up pages show Continue with Google, Continue with GitHub or Continue with Microsoft. Click one, confirm at the provider, and you are in — no password to choose, no confirmation e-mail to wait for.

What we store

Only two things: your verified e-mail address and the provider's ID for your account (a number, not your name).

• The first time, a new account is created on the Free plan and connected to that provider account.
• After that, the provider account signs you in to the same CertWatchr account — even if you later change your address at the provider.

We store nothing else from your profile, and we keep no access to your Google, GitHub or Microsoft account. Nothing is read or posted on your behalf.

If the provider cannot confirm that your address is verified, the sign-in is refused. Use another provider, or register with a password.

An existing account with the same address

A matching e-mail address is not enough to get into an existing account. If you created your account with a password or another provider, Continue with … is refused and tells you how that account signs in. This stops anyone who controls your address at another provider from getting in.

To add a way of signing in:

1. Sign in the usual way.
2. Go to Settings → Account → Connected sign-ins.
3. Click Connect Google, Connect GitHub or Connect Microsoft. The address there does not have to match.

Disconnect removes one again. The last way into an account without a password cannot be removed.

Usernames

If the service offers usernames, you can choose one under Settings → Account → Username and sign in with it instead of your e-mail address. Mail still goes to your address. No Username entry on your Account page? Then usernames are switched off and you sign in with your e-mail address.

Add a password

An account created this way has no password and needs none. To sign in with a password as well, click Forgot password? on the sign-in page and set one. Both ways then work.

Two-factor authentication

If two-factor authentication is on, you still enter your code after a social sign-in.

Delete the account

Settings → Account → Delete account. An account without a password only asks you to type DELETE.

If the account ever paid for a plan, deleting it cancels the subscription at once and deletes your domains, history and settings. The billing record (e-mail address and Stripe customer reference) is kept for the legal retention period and then deleted automatically. You can no longer sign in.
